Artist Statement

My work captures the rhythm and repetition of architectural elements within urban landscapes. I'm drawn to serial architectural elements that, when painted onto canvas, translate into repeated geometric patterns, whether it be in the form of rows of terrace houses, spiralling stairwells or the recurring distant windows in a city skyline. I like to break down the detail of a particular landscape into its component parts and create a tranquil scene undisturbed by chaos. For me, colour is an essential component and all my works are characterised by exaggerated rosy coloured hues, bestowing life and significance to these ordinary buildings that are often overlooked. In all, my artistic practice encapsulates the synergy between architecture, geometric aesthetics, and vibrant colour.
